OPPORTUNITIES

Some require a regular commitment of time, and some occur on an irregular basis. Volunteers can commit to a regular time and day each week, or just pop in spontaneously when time permits.

Collections Assistant

Replace worn book labels; take inventory of our physical collection (no experience required). Mend worn or damaged books; sell duplicate books on our eBay store (experience preferred). Catalogue new acquisitions, primarily books (experience required).

Gardener

Maintain the library’s gardens during the spring, summer, and fall months – i.e., planting, weeding, mulching, pruning. (No lawn mowing, snow plowing, or other grounds work is expected or required.)

Genealogy Research Assistant

Help library staff in conducting genealogical research for remote patrons (experience required).

Marketing Assistant

Write blog posts and press releases; create promotional brochures and other materials; assist in staffing our booth at genealogy conferences or other meetings (experience preferred); maintain our website and Facebook page (experience required).

Project Assistant - Ed Laput Connecticut Cemetery Project

Take digital photographs of gravestones in Connecticut cemeteries; transcribe information into Excel spreadsheets for inclusion in our digital collection.

Reference Assistant

Greet patrons; give tours of the library to newcomers; guide them to finding our resources for their research.

Scanner/Transcriber

Scan original materials and upload digital files to our online collection; transcribe data into spreadsheets.
